Introducing a versatile furniture piece inspired by the timeless Chandigarh chair. Made with cane, plywood, and flexi ply, this stool combines sculptural beauty with practical use. By rotating its three seating surfaces, it effortlessly transforms into a bookshelf to showcase books and decor. It's a chic and functional enhancement for any room.

Concept

The concept behind Pageturner is to create a multifunctional piece of furniture that blends modern design with practicality. Drawing inspiration from the Chandigarh chair, this stool doubles as a bookshelf, offering both seating and storage in one sleek, sculptural form. Its unique design allows users to rotate the surfaces, making it adaptable for various uses, while the combination of cane, plywood, and flexi ply adds a natural, timeless aesthetic.

Process

  • Started with rough sketches, exploring cubical and curved shapes.

  • Merged two sketches into a single design concept.

  • Transitioned to 3D modeling using Fusion 360 and rendered in Blender.

  • Created a prototype using XPS foam and white cement.

  • Received approval from professors for the design.

  • Procured plywood for building the structure.

  • Sent the model for polishing and weaving, using cane material.

  • Showcased the final product.
